Overview

La Svolta - Cucina di Ragione stands as a true gem on Via Nosadella in Bologna, offering an authentic yet creatively reimagined taste of traditional Italian cuisine. The restaurant blends a warm, unpretentious atmosphere with a focus on quality ingredients sourced from various regions of Italy, ensuring each dish carries a distinctive regional identity while staying true to Bologna’s rich culinary heritage.

The culinary highlights showcase both mastery and innovation. The Tagliatelle al Ragù emerges as a standout — tender ribbons of fresh pasta enveloped in a deeply savory meat sauce that left one diner moved to tears, a testament to the dish’s perfection and soulful richness. Equally compelling are the Meatballs Parmigiano and Tortelli alla Zucca, which illustrate the kitchen’s dedication to elevating classic flavors with subtle but impactful twists. For those exploring beyond pasta, the Passatelli con Farina di Castagne, Funghi Cardoncelli e Fonduta di Erborinato e Pere blends earthy mushrooms and chestnut flour noodles with the creamy sharpness of blue cheese fondue, creating a complex harmony on the palate.

The menu extends into delicate accompaniments and desserts that carry the same thoughtful craftsmanship. The Degustazione di Salumi e Formaggi offers a curated insight into Italy’s beloved cured meats and cheeses, while sweet finishes such as the Crêpe di Farina di Castagne con Dulce de Leche e Ricotta di Montagna and the zesty Tiramisù with Dulce de Leche provide a refined balance of richness and freshness. Bread lovers will appreciate the Pane Molto Buono, a perfect canvas for savoring the quality of local butter and olive oil.

The space itself is intimate and inviting, balancing a modest interior with an approachable yet refined ambiance. It suits couples and small groups looking for a romantic or leisurely dining experience without the hype. The friendly, knowledgeable staff, exemplified by hostess Enza, greatly enhance the guest experience by sharing stories behind each dish and guiding guests through the menu with genuine enthusiasm and warmth.

La Svolta is not just another Italian restaurant; it’s a culinary journey that respects tradition while celebrating regional diversity through inventive interpretations. Whether you are a seasoned lover of Italian food or a traveler eager to discover the soul of Bologna’s kitchen, this spot offers hospitality and flavors that linger long after the meal ends.

Reservations are recommended, especially in the evening. For those seeking a memorable dining experience infused with both passion and innovation, La Svolta - Cucina di Ragione should be high on the list.

Okay, I don't want to overhype this but the tagliatelle ragu made me want to cry. It's absolutely perfect. I wasn't expecting to taste something so good. Days later and looking at the photos I can still taste it. Everything I ate here was absolute perfection. This is not a typical Italian restaurant and that only makes it more special. Their dishes always have a twist (they take the traditional recipes and have their own version) and the ingredients are all sourced from different regions of Italy. Enza, our lovely hostess, was a delight and explained every single detail of our dishes, including how to eat their unique lemon cheesecake (don't try it if you don't LOVE the taste of lemon). I wish I had spent more time in Bologna - I would go here every day. Can't wait to visit again. YOU CAN'T SKIP THIS PLACE!

We came across it by chance - we rented an apartment across the street. The staff is very friendly and despite the unpretentious interior, they have a serious attitude to the food - beyond the standard tourist menu. We ordered -SOFT MARINATED PORK IN OIL with cannellini beans and red onion petals in sweet and sour sauce, very tasty, as if we were in southern Italy on the coast. Then we ate SOFT MARINATED PORK IN OIL with cannellini beans and red onion petals in sweet and sour sauce, the combination of the three complements each other very deliciously. We drank wine on the house - very light and pleasant. We are very satisfied and would visit again with great pleasure.

Lovely spot with a unique vibe. We didn't have reservations which might be okay if you get there relatively early for the evening. The appetizers were delicious and fresh and the main dish was rich but not fatty or salty. We'll get dessert next time for sure. Loved the friendliness of our waiter who spoke better English than me. Great space and very romantic.

For the foodies who are all about the details, this place is for you. This place is known for their wines and I tried a glass their mix of Montepulciano and Sangiovese—LOVED. I think they change their wine menu by the glass frequently I liked their Bolognese ragù, especially the tagliatelle. But also, they are also known for other dishes I feel The tiramisu was definitely something special. I loved the vibe of the restaurant and the staff is so nice. Coming back :)

I got the tagliatelle alla bolognese and I have to they were really good, the sauce was tasty and the pasta was "al dente" in a good way. The waiter was well prepared on the wines and on the food.

I thought this place was really lovely, very friendly staff and in a quiet lane with a relaxed ambience. Lasagne was super and the Zuppa Inglese was so yum (never had it before so maybe has something to do with it but genuinely gorgeous)
